cineclub

The year 2019 saw the beginning of the La Escocesa’s Cineclub, the result of the interest of several of its members in cinema. Created with the aim of giving visibility to non-fiction films –short films, medium-length films and feature films– which generally have no place in conventional film circuits,  La Escocesa’s Cineclub is not only a place to watch them, but also a space for debate and dialogue in which to reflect on the films.

Since 2019 and up to the present, between 4 and 6 sessions have been held per year, these being outdoors during the summer months and always accompanied by a dinner, prepared by a different guest for each session.

Currently, the Cineclub's programming group is made up of Catarina Botelho, Carlos Vásquez Méndez, Valentina Alvarado Matos, Elena Maravillas and Marla Jacarilla. Over the years, films by directors such as Lola Clavo, Sofia Exharhou, Natalia Marín, Jodie Mack, María Álvarez, María Cañas, Patricia Esquivias, María Elorza, Carolina Moscoso, Sofía Gallisá, Natalia Castañeda and Maryam Tafakory, among many others, have been screened.

Although La Escocesa's Cineclub started in 2019 as an initiative of the members, years later it began to form part of Rebost (a line of the programme managed autonomously and collectively by the members of La Escocesa), and in 2025 it was consolidated to become part of the centre's regular programme.
