cineclub

The year continues and with it our cineclub, a monthly meeting where we will present a careful selection of films. Each session will include the screening and a vegetarian dinner prepared by a guest artist, inspired by the work screened.

In the June session we will see Haru, Island of the Solitary de Kanerva Cederström and Riikka Tanner.

Wednesday 18th of June

20:30h

Haru, Island of the Solitary de Kanerva Cederström and Riikka Tanner | 1998 | 43min

During 25 summers, between 1964 and 1990, the writer Tove Jansson and her partner, the graphic artist Tuulikki Pietilä, lived on the island of Klovharu, in the golf of Finland. From these stays, a documentary was made from 20 hours of Super 8 footage shot by Pietilä between 1970 and 1991, with texts and commentaries written by Jansson herself. This documentary shows the intimate and poetic relationship between the two artists and the island. Jansson describes it as a living being with emotions of its own, capable of rejecting or pitying them. Isolated, they celebrate life with shadow dances, cloud observations, personal journals such as Landscape Changes, and even conversations with seagulls, such as Pellura.

21:30h

Summertime Pica-pica.
