O Movimento das Coisas
A documentary by Manuela Serra
Stories of an everyday life of silence. On deserted roads whipped by a disturbing wind, in a village in the North. Three families during a working day: four old women, the fields, the bread, the chickens, and to remind us, flashes of ancestral stories of gestures savored in mineral terms. A family of 10 children on a farm plunges into the depths of time in the laborious action of the father felling a tree. Beyond, in the water of the river inhabited by people, in a boat, the sun and the center of the village, the bridge under construction, the veranda, the food, the density and mystique of Sunday, the mass and the local fair: the ritual practice of Saturday.
Isabel moves against the fragments of this landscape, also with her gaze towards the future, beyond all the others, for whom life is nothing more than living. Time goes beyond sunrise and sunset. Life is inhaled using the countryside as a medium in a northern village with its slow and ancient routines. It is a pause in life through things and their dislocation in time, values, silence.

Celaje
A film by Sofia Gallisá Muriente
Celaje oscillates between intimate chronicle, dream and historical document. Mixing Super 8 and 16mm images, handmade developing techniques and original music by José Iván Lebrón Moreira, the piece weaves an elegy to the death of the colonial project and the sedimentation of disasters in Puerto Rico. Memories move like clouds, images rot and age, and traces of the process are visible in the film and in the country, like ghosts.
This is the third and final part of Asimilar y Destruir, a series of works that examine the relationship between climate and memory in the tropics, where nature imposes impermanence.
16mm and Super8 film with diverse treatments.
2020, 41min, Puerto Rico.
El Enviado (aunque no sea más que una tregua)
A film by Sofia Gallisá Muriente
Improvising a ritual with music, food, drinks and books, a group of friends invoke the spirits of the past and confront them, interrogating the colonial legacies that inhabit an Airbnb house that was originally built for the last American governor of Puerto Rico appointed by the United States, before it is sold and that history is no longer accessible.
Digital video and Super8 film developed with anamu, a medicinal plant native to Puerto Rico.
2022, 24min, Puerto Rico.
Activity coordinated by Catarina Botelho, Carlos Vásquez, Marla Jacarilla, Valentina Alvarado Matos and Elena Maravillas.
