Mares entrelazados, conexiones mediterráneas is a publication curated by Mafe Moscoso that brings together several voices: Papalaye Seck, Marina Monsonís, Helen Torres, Sonia Fernández Pan, Helios Fernández Garcés, Lorenzo Sandoval, Daniela Medina Poch, Sally Fenaux, Vanessa Balagué and Magda Vila, who are accompanied by an enormous network of assemblages of beings, human and more than human creatures, things, objects, entities and spirits that are present in evident or perhaps less evident ways, in each of the stories, reflections, images and works that the authors have generously decided to share with us.
Those who participate in this book responded to the invitation to design different approaches and entanglements with/around the Mediterranean Sea. One of the main starting points of this publication is the conception of the ocean as vibrant matter, that is, as a living entity that harbours many worlds and that, far from being disconnected from other bodies and materialities, is in intimate interdependent entanglement with other entities in layers of political, historical, economic and ecological complexity.
We are aware that to speak of the Mediterranean Sea, in the 21st century, forces us to name the necropolitics put into play by the European Union every day through its migration policies; it is to speak of death and it is to speak of the dignified life that always insists on flourishing (also in the waters and in spite of Frontex).
Bilingual edition in Spanish and English.
