Chilean journalist and producer. She graduated as a journalist from Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago and has a Diploma on Executive Production from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Diaz studied New Media and New Narratives at Escuela de Cine y TV de San Antonio de los Baños EICTV in Cuba, has Digital Skills Certificate at the Advanced Media Institute at UC Berkeley in the USA, and studied Interactive Installations for Public Spaces at School of Machines in Berlin.
Since 2018 Diaz produces non-fiction films with an international scope in cinematic format and Extended Realities (XR). Together with the filmmaker Francisca Silva, they created Galgo Storytelling a production company considered a creative laboratory, from where they explore, develop and produce their current projects. Their work revolves around themes of public interest, delving into various facets and layers of both the human condition and the natural world, told through narratives that implement the use of technology. The main aim and purpose that marks Diaz work is to create surprising and meaningful experiences for the audience, which have a reflective and constructive undertone.
Maria Jose is the producer of the documentary feature film In the Shadow of the Light, directed by Isabel Reyes & Ignacia Merino (Premiere Sheffield Doc Fest, Winner Best Film Fecils, Sanfic, Camden International Film Festival, CineBH, RIDM, Zinebi, Fecich, Ñuble Cine). She is the co-director and producer of the virtual reality documentary Ancestral Secret VR (Best Digital Experiences Pitch Sunny Side of the Doc Award), co-directed with Francisca Silva and co-produced by NowHere Media from Germany, currently in post-production. She is the producer of Knowing Your Nature, a mixed reality project in the development stage, directed by Francisca Silva. Also, she is currently developing Chuchu, her solo directorial debut, a personal and intimate documentary using archive and artificial intelligence.
