cos sessions

Sessions cos are encounters open to the public in a context of experimentation and free transfer of knowledge. The intention is to pay attention to bodies and how they move in the entanglements of the political and the ritual of collective self-care.

These sessions call to be aware of the technologies of power and the new forms of control of the body, to expand the politics of the performative and the image, to perceive where a body begins and ends, to explore what our cos are learning at this moment and how we somatize relationships and the construction of the unconscious.

In five different sessions, the group CO-rpus invites the community to all those who may be interested in the proposal, to experience bodily processes from different theoretical and practical sessions.

Two sessions will be led by the collective TeknoDrag, a group of transfeminist and migrant artists who generate transdisciplinary contexts from Drag Art, and will deal with the body-monstration and body-fiction. The following sessions will be guided by the CO-rpus and will evoke the corpus-pause, the cos-environment and the body-magic.

program

session cos 1
cuerpa-monstrua

Thursday, April 27th
19:30 - 21:30h

Using drag technology and an expanded theoretical framework, for this body-monstration session we will work on imaginary bodies beyond the human and the male-female binomial. Inspired by non-hegemonic narratives, we will practice how costumes and the use of prosthetics allow us to give life to the design of a body that is transformed and therefore fictionalized to build parallel realities to the techno-heroic.

Session guided by Lu Chieregati, Feña Celedón and Maíra das Neves.

session cos 2
body-fiction

Thursday, May 25th
19:30 - 21:30h

Body-fiction is a practice that is part of what we call Drag Technology, which assumes that everything is fiction and that all fiction generates performativity. In this meeting we will work from "biomythography", a proposal developed by Audre Lorde to engage in the revisionist transfeminist adventure of creating matrilineal myths. We will re-write our biographies from the fictions and performativities that we want to assume from our identities outside a heteronormative canon. From this exercise we will elaborate a physicality through a practice of improvisation that contemplates the fictions we want to incorporate with the aim of living, at least for a while, the experience of being other bodies in dialogue with the ones we already know.

Session guided by Lu Chieregati and Feña Celedón.

session cos 3
body-pause

Thursday, June 22nd
19:30 - 21:30h

Cuerpa-Pausa is a meeting to discuss possible resistances to the hyper-production of biocognitive capitalism. We will address the suspension of work, the extension of time, non-movement and demobilization to think about the refusal to work and its relation to contemporary art.

Session guided by Erica Volpini, Juan Antonio Cerezuela and Maíra das Neves.

session cos 4
body-environment

Thursday 26th October
18:00 - 20:00h

Cuerpa-entorno is a collective brine, a proposal to dissolve the mental frameworks that determine our relationship with the human and more-than-human worlds, of membranes and porosities, of how we link ourselves to what we perceive as environment, of the edibility of fermentation, the inter-species intimacies and the micro-organisms that always accompany us.

session cos 5
body-oracle

Wednesday 15 November
18:00 - 20:00h

Information on this session will be updated soon.

Activity coordinated by the group CO-rpus, currently formed by Angelica Tognetti, Erica Volpini, Juan Antonio Cerezuela, Maíra das Neves and Sonia Villar.

*Sessions cos recovers some of the dynamics of the working group CO-rpus and during 2023 is part of REBOST, a line of the program managed autonomously and collectively by the members of La Escocesa, who decide the activities they want to organize in relation to the interests and needs of the group.
