the ceramics workshop

The ceramics workshop at La Escocesa is a space for production, research, and experimentation that supports the creative processes of resident artists and members. The workshop is equipped with a kiln, slab roller, wheel, a variety of shared tools and materials, and provides technical support.

It functions as a living space for shared learning, fostering the exchange of technical and conceptual knowledge around ceramics, material processes, and artistic practice. Work ranges from hand-building and glazing to experimentation with clays, soils, and natural resources.

The workshop maintains a growing archive of glazes and clay bodies made with local resources, and offers workshops, training sessions, and collective gatherings, understanding ceramics as an open field of creation, research, and experimentation.

The people in charge of the ceramics workshop have been: María Roy, Mercè Jara, and Marina Rubio.
