The text reflected in this volume is taken from the inaugural lecture of the Laboratorio di Arte Visive imparted by Antoni Muntadas in January 2013 as part of the Master in Theatre and Visual Arts at the University of Venice Iuav. For fifteen years, Antoni Muntadas has contributed, within this framework of studies, to the Visual Arts course directed by Angela Vettese and with the collaboration of Marco Ferraris, Giulio Squillacciotti and Alessandra Messali. In its Italian and English versions, the text was published that same year as part of the Monos collection, an editorial project coordinated by Ana Maria Bresciani and Enrica Cavarzan, whose mission is to publish research from the academic field in order to disseminate various forms of experimentation of the thought. Much of the richness of this text lies in its open and interrogative character. It is approached within the sphere of reflection and not as a manual or a foundational text, and is based on the assumption that each artistic project must find a specific methodology that will provide it with an appropriate development. This position allows Antoni Muntadas, in his formative role, to situate himself in some sort of meta-methodology, in a framework from which to promote the construction of specific, useful and consistent methodologies. In this sense, the text "Reflexiones sobre la metodología del proyecto" is conceived as a useful tool from which to undertake methodological (self-)interrogations and, ultimately, to generate training frameworks with a dialectical basis.
In 2018, La Escocesa, an open factory of analogue creation in Barcelona, invited Antoni Muntadas to give a workshop on the methodology of the project, intended for the artists and projects that were in residence during that period. From the results of that workshop, the importance of publishing this text, unpublished to date in Spanish, was detected, with the intention of providing Spanish-speaking artists with a fundamental tool from which to open up useful questions for the construction of their own methodological frameworks for the development of their specific projects.
