La Metro (Catalonia, 1996) is an artist, researcher and activist queer femme. They are positioned as a pro-sex, pro-rights and anti-racist activist from an embodied objectivity to create corporeal-visual devices by entangling feminist f(r)iccions, kuir/queers through archival art, performance, audiovisual, installation and artistic mediation.
Graduated in Fine Arts, with a master's degree in Cultural Studies with Queer Perspectives, winning the IMIO grant from the Instituto de la Mujer (2023), she is currently developing their doctoral thesis in Artistic Creation to propose an archive of the "public women" and other dissidence in the city of Barcelona with the aim of recognizing the memory of the protagonists, honoring their resilience and combating all stigmas.
She is co-founder of the Red, an network of Sex Workers Artists and close Allies in which she has co-produced an exclusive artistic residency for the same group. They have co-organized the Fervor festival (2024-2025); Also They have directed several masterclasses about thier research at MACBA within the framework of the PEI, at the Capella within the framework of NOSYMMETRIES and in Emergències de FemArt by the resident artists of Emergències 9.0, also accompanying their artistic process. Recently, They have been selected for the international stay in research and artistic mediation (2025) in The Green Corridor, Brussels with the collaboration of EART. In this gallery they produced a solo exhibition and also artistic laboratories with a local sex workers organization -UTSOPI- to explore their own memory and culture. This link allowed for the curation and production of a collective exhibition with local artists.
They are resident of La Escocesa where she has also been the winner of the La Escocesa CREA Grant (2024), within the framework of which the artist coordinated a public opening of her research through an event organized collectively together with the European Sex Work Alliance and Aprosex. They were also selected to perform at the Perpetracions 2025 Festival at CC Sant Martí. They have been an artist invited to several collective exhibitions at the MUHBA, the LGTBI Center, at Femart and at the Complutense University of Madrid. Finally, they have presented their projects in numerous international festivals such as Queer Red Festival Amsterdam or SNAP Festival Bruselas.
La Metro is resident of creation from 2025 to 2027.
