(Concepción, Chile, 1991) Artist and educator in Fine Arts (University of Concepción), with experience in teaching, material research, and collective work. I began my immersion in textiles by completing the MURAD (Master’s in Artistic Research) at EINA (2021-2022), where I developed a research project focused on the craft of felt-making. As a result of this research, I became involved with the collective Tornen Les Esquelles: an artistic group engaged in textile activism that seeks to highlight the wool of the Sierra del Collserola and the local shepherding tradition from an ecofeminist perspective. The group carries out political actions, agroecology, artistic production, ecological design, and workshops focused on research and laboratory work around wool.

I experiment with various mediums, creating space for the material to manifest; I am interested in the phenomenology of materials, recognizing the affective dimension that all bodies possess, rooted in touch and reciprocity. I explore the interaction between materials of different natures, each carrying (and contributing) its own history, in a constant interplay of coexistence, relationships, tensions, and balances.

florencia toro navarrete is a Creation Resident in 2025.
