During three days, we will learn about risography by making our own stickers. This workshop will have a theoretical part about what it is and how to use a risograph machine and we will also have space to design and print.

The course will be hosted by Marian Vélez, the new risograph workshop teacher at La Escocesa.

session 1

Wednesday July 17 from 11 to 14h

At the first session we will design the stickers accompanied by the illustrator Joan Manel.

session 2

Thursday July 18 from 11 to 14h

During the second morning we will see the preparation of the files for the riso machine and we will start with the collective printing with the first inks.

session 3

Friday July 19 from 11 to 14h

At the last session we will finish printing the stickers and we will take them home.

No previous knowledge of risography or design is required, as this is an introductory workshop. Although riso is an analog technique and you can make the designs by hand, the files will have to be digitized and edited, that's why we recommend that you bring your own laptop with photoshop installed.

Marian Vélez is a multidisciplinary artist, her artistic career combines different disciplines such as art direction or theatrical costumes, but focuses on graphic communication and illustration. She is part of the Colectivo Pedant a Missa i Repicant, where she dresses the actors in most of the theatrical pieces. She is also one of the co-creators of the cultural media 5 cèntims, where she develops the task of design, creating multiple agendas and posters to disseminate culture in Barcelona.

Joan Manel Pérez makes graphics with a critical and ironic tone. He has developed his work in cooperative projects such as La Directa, Catarsis magacín and the publishing house Tigre de papel and with some grassroots organizations such as unions and athenaeums in the territory, especially in Barcelona, the city where he lives right now.

He has also been a teacher and is self-employed for as many months as he can. He likes to believe in drawing as an emancipatory tool that encourages critical thinking and creates community. He is still a bit idealistic.
