During 2 days we will learn how to make pottery only with local resources (clays extracted from plots of land in Poble Nou) and traditional processes. We will model by hand and finish with burnishing, earth sigillata (the finest particles of the same earth we work with) and decorations with the same materials extracted from the soil.
Tuesday 14th May
18h - 21h
We will make a sample of the process to obtain clay with local soils, we will mix clays to give different characteristics to the clay and we will model pieces by hand.

Maria Roy (Barcelona, 1993) is an artist and designer who works with both traditional and experimental craft techniques to explore and assimilate the world around her. Her main subject of study is the earth, as living matter that narrates about history, politics and ecology from the local. Using the resources that the earth provides, she forms ceramic sculptures that are closely linked to the geographical context where she develops her practice. With a strong interest in ceramics as an archaeological material, she aims to recover narratives that connect us with the environment through objects. During the last few years, Maria has been teaching in the Degree of Arts and Design at the Massana School and teaches ceramic workshops with the aim of linking the community with the environment and its resources. She also shares her knowledge of ceramics at La Escocesa.
