graphic experimentation with riso!

riso printing summer workshop (morning sessions)

Over the course of three sessions, we’ll learn how to use the Riso printer and create a two-color poster featuring our own design.

We’ll experiment with different graphic elements (analog and digital) to create a unique poster. You can come with a design already sketched out or create one during the course.

At the workshop, we’ll have various analog materials such as typefaces, cutouts, and collages to help us create our designs.

No prior knowledge of risography or design is required, as this is an introductory workshop. Although risography is an analog technique and designs can be created by hand, the files will need to be digitized and edited. For this reason, you’ll need to bring your own laptop with Photoshop installed and have some prior knowledge of the program.

The course will be led by Marian Vélez, a Risograph workshop instructor at La Escocesa.

program

Tuesday, July 7 from 11h to 14h

On the first day, we’ll learn what risography is and how the technique works. We’ll kick off the creative process by experimenting with different graphic elements.

Wednesday, July 8 from 11h to 14h

During the second session, we’ll cover how to prepare files for the Risograph machine in Photoshop, and we’ll finalize the designs. Once everything is ready, we’ll start printing.

Thursday, July 9 from 11h to 14h

And in the final session, we will finish the printing and make the necessary adjustments.
