art and labour

a course

Consists of two sessions in which a selection of artworks addressing work in different times and places will be shared. From Courbet and Duchamp to María Ruido and Woopsyang, including Mierle Ukeles, Mladen Stilinović, Amador e Jr., among others, the intention is to collectively generate reflections upon labour within art.

The sessions will be organized around two themes: In the first session we will talk about Artists and Workers and in the second session about Resisting Work.

programa

session 1: "Artists and Workers"

Tuesday, September 12

A visual path through artworks by artists throughout history who have created pieces about or alongside workers, or who, in their practices, acted as workers.

session 2: "Resisting Work"

Wednesday, September 13

A visual path through art pieces that question the very act of making art as work, or by artists who, in their practices, address the labour conditions of artists.

Art and Labour is part of REBOST, a program line managed autonomously and collectively by the members of La Escocesa, who decide the activities they want to organize according to the interests and needs of the group.
