The terms and conditions make a distinction based on place of residence because, as indicated in the conditions section, ‘There cannot be continuous absence and disuse of the workspace without justification.’ In other words, there must be a physical presence with regard to the use of the space and participation in the La Escocesa Creative Factory community, and this physical presence is very difficult if you do not live in Barcelona or a nearby municipality.
The aim of this call is to provide spaces for artistic production and research (workshops or tables, depending on the chosen modality); accommodation is not provided.
No, you can only submit a single proposal to one of the two modalities we offer in La Escocesa's 2026 Call for Artistic Residencies.
La Escocesa does not specialise in music/sound projects, performing arts, theatre, dance or circus, and does not have the appropriate spaces or materials for developing this type of practice. It is possible to accommodate interdisciplinary projects that work across these areas, but not those directly focused on them; for this purpose, there are other institutions within the Barcelona City Council's Network of Creative Factories.
The aim of this call for proposals is to provide residency spaces for research, experimentation and artistic production projects, which means that proposals purely involving writing, literature or dramaturgy are not eligible. However, within the framework of interdisciplinarity, lines of work that make use of writing, text and/or poetry as part of their processes are welcome.
The call is open to both individual and collective applications. However, it is not possible for an applicant to be selected both individually and collectively at the same time.
Through El Consultori, La Escocesa has sought to support and facilitate access to the development of artistic projects. You can find more information and some resources at this link.
