In occupied Palestine, watermelon is a symbol of resistance. The Palestinian watermelon has become a public expression of cultural pride in artworks representing the struggle against Israeli apartheid
In La Escocesa we stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine in opposition to the actions of the Israeli government. As an organization, we defend social and environmental justice; we do not approve of any system of oppression and we demand an end to the genocide. We ask all cultural and political institutions to raise their voices and work to guarantee an immediate ceasefire and an urgent end to the blockade against Palestine.
We are organising an event in solidarity with Palestine and in collaboration with other spaces and organisations in the city that we will announce in the next few days.
